Description

Pipefitter

 

 

Role:

 

  • Perform operations within the frame of responsibilities and as directed
  • Carry out marking, pre-fabrication and assembly activities for carbon steel, alloy steel and stainless piping, assisted by other functions.
  • Stop activities if required, on grounds of safety if they were to continue, could cause damage or injury.
  • Operate the tools and equipment during constructions operations and ensure adequate attention to perform the task.
  • Inspect drawings and report any mistakes.
  • Check that materials comply with specifications and report any missing materials in order to complete the task.
  • Pre-fabricate and assemble the piping, reporting any anomalies or interference. Prepare equipment for hydraulic testing.
  • Divide materials for use during pre-fabrication and use during assembly, cut down and assemble piping during pre-fabrication.
  • Ensure that the equipment used for the job is safe for use, in a good state of maintenance and provided with the required protections.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training
  • Journeyman ticket and/or other Alberta recognized related trade ticket.
  • Steamfitter - Pipefitter Trade Certification
  • Experience in Pipefitter/Steamfitter testing methods including Visual, Non-destructive, Performance, Heat treatment, Supervision of smoke test of HVAC
  • Experience using Black carbon/ Steel piping
  • Able to determine layout requirements, Select type and size of pipe, Measure, cut, thread and bend pipes to required shape and size, Weld, braze, cement or solder pipes and joints, Test system for leaks, Remove and replace defective components, Rig material and equipment, Operate power lifts, Troubleshoot systems
  • Experience in fabrication
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications, Liaise with management, engineers and other trades, Instruct apprentices
  • Must be authorized to legally work in Canada
